A Brief History Of The Fredericton Christian Reformed Church

The Fredericton CRC begins in 1952 upon the arrival of two Dutch immigrant families in Keswick (a community near Fredericton).  They were joined in 1955 by two more families.  The four families held worship services in their own homes and must be considered the founders of the congregation.

During the next four years more families arrived.  In 1959 services were moved to the Orange Hall on Keswick Ridge.  In January 1961 the church was instituted.  By this time our congregation had grown to 13 families and had welcomed its first pastor, Reverend Dirk Lieverdink.  In 1964 a new church and parsonage were completed on McAdam Avenue in Nashwaaksis, on Fredericton’s north side.

From 1964 to 1985 our church had grown from 13 families to 35 families and has since remained fairly steady at this membership level with the number of families arriving approximately offsetting the number leaving for other locations and churches, etc.

The Fredericton CRC has seen a number of significant building expansion and renovation projects which attests to our growth in programs and in numbers but above all to our trust in our Lord and our longing to serve Him and to minister for Him in our community.
